Catholic Culture.org:

Two grenades were discovered at the cathedral in Bossangoa, a city of nearly 40,000 in the Central African Republic, the Fides news agency reported.

Members of Seleka, an Islamist rebel movement, seized power in the nation in March, and Christian institutions have suffered numerous attacks.

Más sobre Seleka aquí:

“The funding sources are worrisome. They are the same ones that funded the rebellions from Libya to Tunisia to Mali,” Territorial Administration Minister Jose Binoua said, implying that other countries like Chad are involved.

Some observers believe that even if the rebellion is mostly made up of former Central African rebels, it also includes “former members of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA), as well as Chadian, Sudanese and Nigerian mercenaries” — claims the rebels deny.

According to Marchal, “given the rebellion’s origins in the north, we can assume there are many Muslims in their ranks.”

Los rebeldes sirios a los cristianos de Malula: “o os convertís al Islam o os decapitamos”

Todo muy alianzador:

Another Christian resident said: ‘I saw the militants grabbing five villagers and threatening them and saying, “Either you convert to Islam, or you will be beheaded”.’

Another said one church had been torched, and gunmen stormed into two other churches and robbed them.

The beautiful mountain village, 25 miles from Damascus, is one of the few places in the world where residents still use the ancient language of Aramaic, which was spoken by Jesus and his disciples.

Además, en el ataque consideraron a una iglesia “un botín de guerra”:

During the storming of armed Islamists into Maaloula, in an attack they dubbed a “conquest” in reference to the era of Islamic conquests, they vandalized the church, considering it a “war prize.” This is also a tribal tradition that existed prior to Islam and was practiced by Muslims for a while during their wars to bribe tribesmen and talk them into accepting the idea of fighting Jihad with the prophet. Later on, the Prophet Muhammad set war standards, prohibiting the killing of captives, the burning of trees and ensuring the preservation of sacred sites of other religions. Sigue leyendo

While U.S. leaders continue pushing for war against the Syrian government, today “Al-Qaeda-linked rebels,”reports AP, “launched an assault on a regime-held Christian mountain village in the densely populated west of Syria and new clashes erupted near the capital, Damascus, on Wednesday…  In the attack on the village of Maaloula, rebels commandeered a mountaintop hotel and nearby caves and shelled the community below, said a nun, speaking by phone from a convent in the village. She spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.”

Arabic news agency Al Hadath gives more information concerning this latest terror attack on Syria’s Christians, specifically how the al-Qaeda linked rebels “terrorized the Christians, threatening to be avenged on them after the triumph of the revolution.”

Por supuesto, no lo dijo textualmente. Simplemente dijo “Dios prepara a aquellos que tomarán venganza por los muertos”.

A prominent Sunni Muslim cleric offered tacit support yesterday for any Western strike on Syria, suggesting foreign powers were God’s instrument for vengeance.

‘We wish we were able to take revenge for our brothers who have been killed … in their hundreds, but God prepares those who would take revenge for them,’ Egyptian-born Sheikh Youssef Al Qaradawi said in his weekly sermon from Doha, where he lives.

‘We ask God to punish them for what they have done. They deserve what is happening to them,’ Qaradawi said, referring to Bashar Al Assad’s forces, in a sermon broadcast on Qatar state television.

“La lapidación es beneficiosa”

stoningEspecialmente para el alma del lapidado si es una adúltera o un gay: 😯

A YouTube video featuring an insightful look at the ideas of the Brampton preacher who stated that “sinners,” as defined by his own interpretation of Islamic law, can benefit from a jolly good stoning was running all day until it was belatedly taken down.
The sheikh explained that a Muslim who is sentenced to death by stoning under Sharia law actually benefits from this gruesome punishment as his or her soul is being purified even as the stones rain down on their sinful head.
